For this project, I explored how different songs and musical genres can influence mood, creativity, and motivation. I aimed to use thoughtful visual elements to communicate ideas in a way that is both clear and engaging. The project combines music and visual design to create an experience that captures the emotional impact of sound while maintaining depth, meaning, and creativity.
My first refined sketch uses a timeline format, where each point represents a significant song. The second sketch explores a more three-dimensional concept, using the first letter of each music genre as sculptural forms that represent each genre. For the third sketch, I drew flowing lines that mimic sound waves, with the names of music genres wrapped around them.

01Â Â Â Initial SketchesÂ
For my initial sketches I wanted to visualise sound waves and playlists as life maps. I was inspired by the irregular shapes found in constellations and the circular lines found on traditional vinyl records.
After reviewing my refined sketches, I decided to create digital iterations of my third design. I began by using Adobe Illustrator to digitize my linework and experiment with different typefaces for the text elements. I then incorporated the letters spelling out each genre around the illustrative elements, along with the song names. Finally, I selected a color palette that I felt best represented the mood and characteristics of each genre.
